Questions and Answers relating to TransLation Crew's Services

1. Do you charge for quotes?

No! Our quotes are always free. Quotes can be prepared and returned to you within one business day.

2. How are translations priced?

Translations are priced on a per word basis depending on the language being translated, the technical nature of the document, and the deadline.

Fill out the quote form and we will be happy to prepare a cost estimate for you within one business day. Proofreading and certification of the documents are included in the price of the translation. Our pricing is represented by one rate. There are no additional charges for administration, project management, etc. It is all included in the rates we provide.

We will work with you to ensure we provide an extremely competitive price that fits into your budget requirements.

3. Can your company certify a document that I have already translated myself?

No, in order for us to certify a document, we have to ensure that it is a true and accurate translation of the original. A document must be translated by one of our Translators and they sign Certification of Authenticity, which we provide with every translation.

4. How quickly can your company translate a document?

Our normal turnaround time is 3-5 business days for smaller projects. However, the turnaround time is ultimately determined by the word count and technicality of the document. We will do everything we can to provide a quicker delivery if your translation is urgent and have a good flexible team of Translators who will happily fit your translation into their schedule where they can. Please fill out the e-quote form or give us a call telling us when you require delivery and we will do everything to work towards your time scales.

5. In what manner and format does your company need to receive documents to be translated?

We can receive documents via email in the format of your choice (Word, PDF, Power Point, or others), or if you only have hard copies, you can fax, mail, or by courier.

As part of our continued improvement to provide the best services; we can provide you with a 'cabin' on our ftp site - where you can literally transfer the documents you need translating from your desktop, simply drag and drop into your secure cabin to await translation, we will email you when they are ready for collection.

We provide you with a User Name and a Password to access the site - please contact us for more information.

Safe - Easy - Secure

Exceptionally good for large documents that you may have difficulty emailing!

6. How will the document be returned to me?

We can return the document to you in any manner that you prefer. We can email in any format that you wish, mail or fax the translated document. If you need a certified translation, we can mail it to you.

7. Do you count numbers and words like 'a' and 'the' when considering the word count in a document?

Yes, our final word count is based on the electronic word count of the source language (the language being translated from). This is an industry standard and is really the only consistent and fair way of charging between Translators and Clients.

However, many of our Clients have manuals and user documents that have duplicate words throughout ('Parts' Lists etc) and if the Client has a Preferred Translator who uses Trados then we will reduce the pricing accordingly.

8. Are translations done by human Translators or machines?

All of the translations performed by TransLation Crew are done by human Translators, who translate into their native language (or language that they have been approved to have habitual use of - for instance if Translators are bi-lingual and educated in more than one language and they have a accreditation from a Translation Association Membership that recognises this.) Translators will only accept work in the areas they are expert in and we will match the best Translator to the type of work that you need translating.

Translating is a professional business and you often hear horror stories of people trying to use on-line translations - basically that is like opening a dictionary and using the first sense of the word - the wording used has to be in context with what is being translated!

10. What are the payment methods, terms and security?

We accept payment by cheque or bank/wire transfer. Please contact us if you have another preferred method.

If you have any other questions you would like to ask - do not hesitate to contact us either via email to: enquiry@translationcrew.com or Phone us on +44 (0)116 2337 640 - we are always happy to help!
